Description

Cowboy Sliders blend German pretzel bread with bold southwestern flavors, creating a mouthwatering mini sandwich perfect for game day or casual gatherings. Ranch-seasoned beef and melted cheese nestled between buttery pretzel rolls promise a delicious twist on classic sliders.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Protein:

  • 1 pound (454 grams) ground beef
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, crumbled

Cheese and Dairy:

  • 1 cup (240 milliliters/8 ounces) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

Vegetables and Seasonings:

  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Bread and Toppings:

  • 1 package (9 count) pretzel slider buns
  • 1 cup (240 milliliters) crispy fried onions
  • 1 recipe cowboy butter, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet, sauté ground beef with diced onions, minced garlic, and selected seasonings over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked and no longer pink. Carefully drain any excess fat.
  3. Separate slider buns and arrange bottom halves in the prepared baking dish. Generously spread cowboy butter across the bottom buns.
  4. Create layers by evenly distributing cooked beef mixture, sliced jalapenos, crispy bacon pieces, shredded cheese, and caramelized onions over the buttered bun bottoms.
  5. Carefully place bun tops over the layered ingredients and brush the surface with additional cowboy butter.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
  7. Remove foil and continue baking for an additional 3-5 minutes until buns turn golden brown and cheese melts completely.
  8. Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes. Serve hot with remaining cowboy butter on the side for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Customize Heat levels by adjusting jalapeño quantity for spice lovers or those with milder preferences.
  • Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based crumbles for a leaner, vegetarian-friendly version.
  • Enhance flavor by caramelizing onions before adding to sliders for deeper, richer taste profile.
  • Prep ahead by assembling sliders earlier in the day and refrigerating, then baking when ready to serve for convenient entertaining.
